Rebel Prophet Story (Jonah 1)

Wicked City  – city, serpent, crown, cloud – God told his prophet Jonah to visit Nineveh City and announce his judgement against the people for their wickedness.

Jonah’s Escape – water, sailboat, man, flame – Jonah chose to board a sailboat heading away from the city.

Terrible Storm – thunderstorm, boat, waves – God sent a violent storm. The sailors prayed to their gods for help. They woke up Jonah and asked him to pray also.

Self Sacrifice – water, boat, sailor, flag – Jonah knew the storm was his fault. He convinced the sailors to throw him overboard. When Jonah hit the water, the storm stopped. The sailors believed in God. God also sent a whale to rescue Jonah. He lived inside for three days.

Genesis Stories

We are creating our own list of story names for every book of the Bible to include in our future publication: Draw Bible Stories.

By the time we finish, we will have a master list of every passage of the whole Bible.

We’d love your feedback as we develop these lists. We just completed the rough draft of our Genesis Stories list. Take a look, and let us know if you think there’s a better name for any of these stories.

The only requirement is that each story can only have two words. Leave a comment with your ideas. Thanks for all your prayers, generosity, collaboration, and advocacy.

Replacing Judas Story (Acts 1)

Constant Prayer – disciples, flame, house – Jesus’ disciples returned to Jerusalem after his ascension. They stayed in a house unified in prayer and worship.

Judas’ Betrayal – Jesus, chains, Judas, gallows – Peter stood up and spoke about Judas’ betrayal, how it was prophesied by David, and how terrible was his death.

Jesus’ Witness – empty tomb, man, flame, flag – Peter said the Psalms prophesied a replacement. The new apostle must be someone who had been with Jesus since John’s baptism, and witnessed his resurrection.

Dream Team – Jesus, cloud, flame, apostle – They chose two candidates. They prayed for discernment. The Holy Spirit confirmed Matthias as the new apostle.

  • Why did the disciples need the Holy Spirit to come?

  • List examples of Judas’ betrayal in Psalm 109.

  • How did the other disciples feel about Judas’ death?

  • Why did the new apostle need to be an eyewitness?

  • Consider their prayer, “Lord, you know all our hearts.”

  • What were Jesus’ disciples preparing for and why?
