How To Pray In March

Leadership Prayers for March/Spring Season

  • Unpredictable Temperatures

  • New Seeds

  • Evaluating Flow

  • Clearing Barriers

  • New Wineskins

Unpredictable Temperatures >

Gardeners begin to prepare soil and plant new seeds, but unexpected freezes can happen. In leadership, we make our plans and work our strategies, but life circumstances often occur unexpectedly.

Let’s pray for all the people on our teams to be flexible, humble, and filled with the Holy Spirit as we face unexpected changes in business and ministry environments. Pray that we will be preemptive to protect our people in spiritual attacks, and stay strong together in Jesus Christ through waves of challenges and suffering.

New Seeds >

Gardeners plant new trees and shrubs, because the weather is typically cool and moist.

Pray for revelation of fresh vision and discernment of new strategies as well as clarity of how to adapt our current strategies. Pray that we will perceive new soilbeds for our ministries, that we will faithfully prepare our existing relationships and networks for future harvests God will give to us in approaching seasons.

Evaluating Flow >

Gardeners check their irrigation systems to make sure the water flows freely to all parts of the garden.

Pray for wisdom and understanding to see blockages in our own hearts as well as our teammates, that we will hear clearly from the Lord and focus on what truly matters in life and eternity. Pray for clear sight to see places and spaces where the enemy is attempting to secure a foothold in our hearts and relationships. Pray for purity, strength, and power to root him out and fill those places with love, peace, and Truth.

Clearing Barriers >

Gardeners clear out old mulch and dead leaves from flower beds so the sunlight and rain can reach the soil and nourish the newly planted seeds. Gardeners prune trees of dead and diseased branches to ensure sunlight reaches the inner parts for producing more fruit balanced across the whole tree.

Pray for a heart to see and a mind to understand barriers to the gospel slowly growing within our own hearts as well as our relationship networks. Pray for Jesus’ Truth to flow through our lives and leadership. Pray for a spirit of grace and righteousness to be embraced by our teams, to empty ourselves of whatever does not belong and be filled evermore with the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Pray that we will be holy vessels of God’s glory coming to earth and reaching the nations.

New Wineskins >

Gardeners transplant indoor plants into bigger pots with fresh soil to create greater capacity for more growth and ensure essential nutrients reach the roots.

Pray for intimacy with the Holy Spirit to foresee the future places of God’s growth within us and through us. Pray for intentionality to press into those channels of growth, to understand how they work and keep them clear of barriers to sustainability. Pray for freedom to get rid of burdens and baggage; old systems and comforts that keep us from pressing deeper into more of the Lord flowing through our lives. Pray for a spirit of unity, learning, sharing, and collaboration to receive wisdom from God and apply his will and ways to our values, priorities, and practices.

Known Prayer (Psalm 139)

Known, to be known, means that someone understands who you are, they recognize the person you are inside, and they see deeper into your nature and desires beyond your physical appearance and personality to the way you are and how you are wired; revealed, unveiled, understood, appreciated, accepted.

Known Prayer >

Abba Father, we love you, and we praise you. You are worthy of our worship, and we celebrate who you are, for you are good, and your love endures forever. You are the Builder Of All Things: you have designed each one of us, you have mapped out your plans for our lives, and you guide us every day through every decision and dream.

Abba Father, you are our Dwelling Place: you have made your home within us. It was not always this way, you did not used to live within your people. Before now, there were tabernacles and temples, clans of priests who communicated with you on our behalf, and we could not speak to you directly. Now Christ has come, now the Holy Spirit has arrived and made your home in our hearts: temples without stone, a prayer house made of spirit and soul. We glorify your name in all the earth for this wondrous miracle alive in us!

God Of Our Salvation, thank you for knowing us. To be known is the greatest gift in the universe: to be loved and embraced, to be pursued and adopted, to be accepted and given a new identity. We praise you, God Who Knows Us! Life Giving Spirit, thank you for breathing life into our death and raising us up into the eternal light of Jesus. Thank you for the generous gifts of our new hearts and spirits. The old is gone, behold: the new is here and beautiful. You fashioned each one of us according to your will that we may shine brightly for your glory and amplify your majesty in this generation to all peoples.

Now, Abba Father, we entrust all nations and peoples, all tribes and languages into your care. You are Head of the Church as well as Lord of the Harvest Fields. We rest in your promises, your guarantee that the Great Commission will be fulfilled as your people listen to your voice and follow your direction. Here we are, Father. Lead us and guide us, direct our every step, and shape our every desire as we stand upon Jesus our Secure Rock.

Glory, glory, hallelujah! Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is Jesus who comes in the name of Yahweh. With all angels and archangels and all the company of heaven, we praise the Lamb of God, we praise the Lion of Judah who was slain for the sins of the world. And we sing together, “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD God Almighty who was, and who is, and who is to come, world and age without end.” And we say, “Maranatha!” Jesus has come, Christ will return, come quickly, Shalom Messiah!

Amen. So be it. Grace & peace.

Known Song Map (Psalm 139) >

  • Sovereign Seer

  • Immanuel Companion

  • Master Craftsman

  • Hatred Confession

  • Unknowable Wonders

Sovereign Seer > You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. (Psalm 139:1-5 NIV)

Immanuel Companion > Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I run away from where you are? If I go up to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in the place of the dead, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning or live in the farthest part of the sea, even there your hand will lead me and your right hand will hold me.If I say, “For sure the darkness will cover me and the light around me will be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you. And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same to you. (Psalm 139:7-12 NLV)

Master Craftsman > You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Psalm 139:13-16 NLT)

Hatred Confession > God, if only you would kill the wicked— you bloodthirsty men, stay away from me—who invoke you deceitfully. Your enemies swear by you falsely. Lord, don’t I hate those who hate you, and detest those who rebel against you? I hate them with extreme hatred; I consider them my enemies. (Psalm 139:19-22 CSB)

Unknowable Wonders > Your knowledge of me is too deep; it is beyond my understanding… O God, how difficult I find your thoughts; how many of them there are! If I counted them, they would be more than the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you… Examine me, O God, and know my mind; test me, and discover my thoughts. Find out if there is any evil in me and guide me in your everlasting way. (Psalm 139: 6, 17-18, 23-24 GNT)

Known Story > Hagar Runs Away (Genesis 16)

Hagar was an Egyptian slave in Abraham’s household. His wife Sarai became frustrated with God waiting for his promised child prophecy to be fulfilled, so she came up with her own plan. She told Abraham to sleep with her slave to bear an heir. When Hagar became pregnant, Sarai despised her in her heart and treated her so badly that Hagar ran away.

Hagar rested by a spring in the wilderness alone and outcast, isolated and afraid. God sent his angel to find her and explain her future. He told her that he knew her, he cared about her even though she was an abused slave from another nation, and her destiny was to share in Abraham’s family blessing: to have a great multitude of descendants.

Hagar had felt outcast and forsaken, but in the desert by the water she met the God Who Sees Me and discovered she was loved and favored despite her awful environment. She wiped the tears from her eyes, believed the Lord, and returned home to remain with Abraham and Sarai. She gave birth to a son and named him Ishmael, meaning “God listens.”

Hagar’s heart changed when she realized she was known by God. Everything changes for us in times of suffering and pain, challenges and failures: to discover that we are not alone and to understand that we are known and loved. The greatest gift we could ever give to another person is to truly know them: to give significant time to invest in a few relationships where you go beyond pretense and profile to heart and soul, to be a safe place for someone else to be honest and not control, condemn, or change them.

As God’s sons & daughters, we are known by him beyond our imagination, and we are called into this ministry of knowing one another. We will invest deeply in fewer people so that we can truly become one in heart, soul, and spirit in unity with the Holy Spirit. In heaven, we will experience companionship perfected: eternal fellowship with all saints in the everlasting presence of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Now, through the power of the gospel and the presence of the Holy Spirit, we have the capacity and calling to practice the culture and values of heaven in our midst. We are Jesus’ Ekklesia: a relationship network of Jesus’ disciples who worship him and take care of one another as we take this good news to every nation and tribe until our Messiah King returns in glory!

Signal Prayer – 2 Corinthians 3

Please pray through these Scriptures with us, blessings over our generation.

Boldness > Therefore, brothers & sisters, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:19-23 NKJV)

Calming Storms > Jesus stood up and commanded the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind stopped, and it became completely calm. Jesus said to his followers, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:39-40 NCV)

Freedom > Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18 NIV)

Good News > “When the Messiah came, He proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” (Ephesians 2:17-18 HCSB)

New Heart > “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” (Ezekiel 36:25-26 NLT)

Perseverance > We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3-5 NIV)

Salvation Fountain > With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation! In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the LORD! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!” (Isaiah 12:3-4 NLT)

Worthy > “He said: The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my mountain where I seek refuge. My shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, and my Savior, You save me from violence. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies.” (2 Samuel 22:2-4 HCSB)

A SIGNAL is a way of communicating something important: a sign that people have been waiting to see, a message that people have been hoping to hear, a confirmation of connection.

What is the Holy Spirit saying about this SIGNAL prayer focus?

Prophecy Fulfilled > Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to us as the signal that what all the prophets were saying and promising have come true.

Daily Revelation > The Holy Spirit is the signal of heaven, waves of communication between Jesus up in heaven and mankind here on earth. We have the Scriptures, yes, AND the Holy Spirit makes them come alive, helps us understand, counsels us in all our desires and decisions, guides us wherever he is calling us to go, giving us discernment to perceive and resist counterfeit signals.

Critical Connection > The Holy Spirit is the connection we need with the Father & Son in heaven. Jesus said he does NOTHING apart from first resting in the Father, perceiving clearly where he is already moving, and then joining him. How many of our decisions and activities do not require fellowship with and revelation from God?

Relationship Inheritance > The Holy Spirit at work in each one of us is the signal that we are Jesus’ true disciples: not how much we know about the Scriptures, not our education or experiences, not our ministry works or results. This relationship with Jesus fulfilled through walking in the freedom of the Spirit is the SIGNAL that we are worshipping in SPIRIT and in TRUTH.

Hearing Clearly > Jesus said WAIT until the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and then we will be his witnesses to the nations operating in his power; the distinction between ministry being done FOR him rather than THROUGH him. We do not want to minister the kingdom for him in his name, we want him to minister his kingdom through us as we rest in his presence and overflow with his power. The SIGNAL is not some neutral energy source, it’s not strategic thinking, it’s not correct doctrine, it’s not great ideas, it’s not accumulated knowledge of what others have done or think or believe is fruitful. The SIGNAL is John 10, “My sheep know my voice. They don’t listen to the hired servant, and they run away from the thief. My sheep know my voice, they listen for when I speak, and when they hear me, they follow.”

Trustworthy Companion > Brothers & sisters, let’s rest and listen, soaking in the Holy Spirit river. First, we must discern the strength of our SIGNAL, our connection with Jesus through the Holy Spirit; then, we refresh and renew in his presence, delight in his love & gifts, listen to his voice, receive his revelation, and follow him wherever he leads, because we know that he’s been there before us: he is with us, he will never leave us or forsake us, and wherever he goes, he will show us what to do and tell us what to say, because we are simply pure wellsprings overflowing with his living waters by his amazing grace and sovereign supervision.
