Noah’s Ark Story (Genesis 6)

Grieving God – king, earth, stars, tears – God saw that all humanity became corrupt. He grieved, because he created mankind for worship, but they chose violence.

Catastrophic Flood – cities, corpse, ocean, raincloud – God judged Noah’s generation. God told Noah about his plan to send a flood that would drown all creation.

Rescued Remnant – God decided to save Noah and his family from the destruction. He taught Noah how to build a giant ark to protect his family from annihilation.

Creation Caretakers – God sent pairs of every beast and bird to the ark. Noah and his family would feed and care for God’s creation through the great disaster.

  • Have you ever been in a hopeless situation? What does it feel like to be trapped without any escape?

  • How did Noah stay righteous in this evil generation?

  • What’s it feel like to be the only sane person in town?

  • Stand next to Noah. What’s his reaction after hearing God’s plan to destroy the whole world by flood?

  • Imagine Noah building the ark and all the animals and birds arriving. What would you be experiencing?

  • What do we learn about faith and trust in this story?

Cursed Dragon Story (Ezekiel 28)

Anointed Cherubim – angel & banner – God created a leader among angels. He was perfect in beauty, pure of heart. He was given wisdom, honor, and influence.

Pride’s Origin – dragon, crown, sword – The angel became prideful because of his wealth, power, and great skill in trade. He became wicked and violent.

Outcast Rebel – mountain, cloud, crown, dragon – Satan considered himself a god, so God cast him out of heaven. Kings and nations witnessed his downfall.

Tragic Aftermath – water, flame, chains – The nations were appalled at his transformation from angel to dragon. He is cursed forever, living in a deep, fiery pit.

Storytellers Sight

  • Imagine how God felt watching Satan grow corrupt.

  • Compare Satan before and after his downfall.

  • How can someone so pure end up this wicked?

  • Make a list of some of the mysteries in this story.

  • Imagine you’re there, watching Satan change into a dragon. What stands out about his transformation?

  • Consider Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goes before a fall.”

  • What does it feel like to lament the loss of a loved one? What’s life like on the other side of great loss?

Jesus’ Ascension Story (Acts 1)

Risen King – Jesus cross, crown, Risen Christ – Jesus spent 40 days with his disciples after the resurrection. He proved he was alive, and he explained God’s plans.

Fire Baptism – disciples, flames, cloud – Jesus told his disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they were baptized with the promised Holy Spirit’s presence.

World Mission – earth, stars, evangelist, flame – Jesus told his disciples not to worry about when he would return. He said they would be his witnesses worldwide.

Return Home – angel, cloud, Jesus – Jesus went home to heaven, disappearing in a cloud. Two angels appeared and prophesied about Jesus’ future return.

  • Why did the Risen Christ have to prove he was alive?

  • What’s significant about Jesus staying for 40 days?

  • What is water baptism? What is Holy Spirit baptism?

  • What instructions do you think Jesus gave to them?

  • Why do we need the Holy Spirit for evangelism?

  • Imagine yourself there beholding Jesus’ ascension. What are some reactions of the other disciples?

  • Why did God send the angels after Jesus departed?

  • What part of this story do you connect with the most?
