Noah’s Flood Story (Genesis 7-8)

Final Preparations – ark & storm – Noah’s family made final preparations for the flood. They collected all the animals and food on board; then, God sent the storm.

Baptized Mountains – mountain, ocean, ark – God protected the ark as he sent the flood that covered the earth. The oceans rose above the highest mountains.

New Growth – dove & branch – The flood waters slowly receded, and the ark returned to land. As the earth dried, Noah sent birds to search for fresh vegetation.

Fresh Covenant – altar, beast, fire, smoke – God told Noah’s family to leave the ark and release all the animals. Noah built a worship altar and sacrificed burnt offerings. God promised never to send another flood.

Storytellers Sight

  • Do you think Noah had any doubts before the flood?

  • Experience the great storm with Noah’s family. How are the people and animals reacting to the storm?

  • How would it feel to be the only family left on earth?

  • What was daily life like for Noah’s family on the ark?

  • Why did Noah send out birds after the flood ended?

  • Read Genesis 1:26-31. Consider God’s great sorrow and pain at humanity’s corruption and annihilation.

The following activities will help you remember the story, apply wisdom to your own life, and tell the story to others.
