Judging Hearts – heart & scales – Let me tell you a story about how Jesus judges hearts. Jesus and his disciples observed a priest and a sinner praying at the temple.

Self Righteous – priest, flag, serpent – The priest thought God favored him because of his obedience. Deceived by pride, he glorified himself. This spiritual leader was wicked.

Powerful Humility – sorrowful man & flame – The Holy Spirit moved in the tax collector’s heart. He knew he needed forgiveness, and he begged for mercy. His heart was holy.

Kingdom Come – praising man, flame, house, cloud, crown – God’s kingdom reigns in the sinner’s heart and home. Jesus said that God punishes the prideful and honors the merciful.

  • Draw my own pictures to illustrate the story.

  • Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal wisdom in the story.

  • Pray. What is the Holy Spirit asking me to do next?
