First Murder Story (Genesis 4)
First Children – fruit tree & sheep – Adam & Eve had two sons: the first of mankind’s children. Cain cultivated plants and trees. Abel cared for livestock.
Blood Sacrifice – altar, animal, fire, smoke – When it was time to honor the LORD, Cain brought some of his fruit, and Abel offered meat from the firstborn of his flocks.
Brother’s Keeper – two men & rock – God accepted Abel’s offering and rejected Cain’s. Cain became jealous, lured Abel into a field, and killed his brother.
Cursed Outcast – king, road, traveler – Cain lied to God about killing Abel. God cursed Cain and put a mark on him. God sent Cain away, and he left to go build a city.
